Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty related to writing. It has biological – neurodevelopmental causes and is typically hereditary, like ADHD, and it occurs at a ratio of 4 boys to 1 girl internationally.

In other words, individuals with dyslexia experience lifelong significant difficulties with reading (very slow and error-prone), spelling (misspelling, even though they know grammar rules), and struggle to transfer their spoken language into written form.

ADHD

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is mainly an attention, organization and behavioural disorder.

Its causes are biological (neurological) and it is usually hereditary, like dyslexia; the ratio of boy to girl cases is 4 to1, internationally.

It includes 3 different groups of symptoms:  1. Attention Deficit, 2. IMPULSIVITY, 3. Hyperactivity.

Learning Disabilities

There are numerous and various definitions of Learning Difficulties, but unfortunately there is no universally accepted international, positive-aetiological definition. What all definitions have in common is the exclusion criteria.

In other words, due to lack of appropriate scientific knowledge we exclude all possible causes known to cause General Learning Difficulties and, if such causes cannot explain the difficulties, then the diagnostician takes into account the psycho-educational performance of the child in comparison to that expected for the average performance for his grade and age.
